Our Board

Katy Cotter is the Director of Marketing at Discover Albany with nearly 10 years of experience leading

the marketing and communications efforts in the hospitality and tourism industry. As the Destination

Marketing Organization for Albany County, Discover Albany, works to market the county as a destination

for leisure travelers, sports competitions and host for meetings and conventions. 

Katy previously served as the Communication Project Manager at the New York State Hospitality and

Tourism Association, and the Marketing and

Communications Manager at the Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern New York.

Katy currently serves on the marketing committees for the Downtown Albany Business Improvement

District and the New York State Tourism Industry Association.

Joe began working with Davey Tree in 2016 and currently holds the position of Sales Arborist. 18 years of previous Green Industry experience prior to Davey Tree. About Joe: He is particularly fond of historic gardens and was an active member of the New Jersey Historic Garden Foundation until moving to upstate NY. Joe often donated time to help improve the health of historic trees at the Cross Garden Estate and Jacobus Vanderveer House in New Jersey. He enjoys sharing his knowledge of arboriculture and often hosts events at schools and local organizations to teach children about trees, insects, and local wildlife. Joe enjoys working with clients and sharing information to help them beautify their properties.

Credentials: BCMA Education: Degree in Horticulture from Morrisville State College.

Kimberly was born and raised in Oneonta, New York, where she grew up with a love of the outdoors, spending much of her childhood hiking, fishing, and camping. She attended college to study history and anthropology, which gave her the opportunity to study abroad in Belize and Mexico and sparked a lifelong interest in people, cultures, and learning.

After college, Kimberly moved to Arizona, where she worked as a case manager at a behavioral health clinic. Her experiences there eventually led her back to New York to pursue a master’s degree in education. She began her teaching career as a history teacher in Ithaca, where she also met her husband. Together, they later moved to New York City and she taught in the South Bronx. While living in the city, Kimberly earned her degree in school administration and began the next chapter of her career as an educational leader.

After the birth of their first child, Kimberly and her husband decided to return upstate, drawn back by their love of nature and a desire to raise their family outside of the big city. Since then, Kimberly has served in a variety of school leadership roles throughout the Capital Region. Three years ago, she joined Bethlehem Central High School as an Assistant Principal, where she enjoys supporting students, building school community, and helping young people find pathways that allow them to be successful.

Today, Kimberly lives in Delmar with her husband and their two elementary-aged children. Outside of school, she still enjoys many of the things she loved growing up—spending time outdoors, exploring new places, and enjoying life with her family.
